What is RFID?

RFID, aka Radio Frequency Identification is the technology that lets you simply wave your credit or debit card, your id or passport etc. in front of a nearby scanner. It’s a fairly simple concept. The electronic scanner sends a signal that an antenna in the card receives, and uses it to activate the RFID readers with a few simple supplies. Unfortunately, criminals can, with minimal technical skills, construct their own RFID readers and steal your private financial information by simply passing you by and silently stealing all of your information.

All of our Hell-Bent wallets now come standard with the RFID protection.

What are the wallets made of?

With the exception of the 3.0, which is constructed of billet aluminum (unless otherwise stated), our Hell-Bent wallets are constructed of a thermoplastic acrylic, polyvinyl-chloride material, aka Kydex. From acrylic, it obtains superior rigidity and formability; from PVC, its outstanding toughness and chemical resistance. In short, it is an extremely durable plastic material that is waterproof, highly scratch resistant, holds its shape, will not stretch or shrink under normal conditions and is chemical resistant!

What are our money clips made of?

Our money clips are made of a Grade-5 Titanium. It is the strongest grade of commercially Alloy Titanium. Though it is normally used in industrial applications and surgical hardware, we decided to make our money clips with it. It is our product of choice for its excellent corrosion resistance, formability and strength.

How much do they hold?

The amazing clips can hold up to 30 bills folded in half!

My clip has lost its retention. What do I do?

Sometimes through constant use, things stretch… in the case of our money clips you can fix this with a rubber mallet. You need to hit the two edges at the bend of the clip and it will return to it’s original tightness.

I want a custom clip! What do I do?

You will need to send the image you would like on the clip to our Customs Department customs@hellbentholsters.com to make sure we are able to produce the image. Upon approval, you simply order the Hell-Bent Personalized Money clip and refer to the image/email in the notes section of your order.

What colors can be used for custom clips?

Currently, we are able to anodize in Blue, Purple, Pink, Bronze. We also offer a Black Cerakote option!

What is IWB and OWB?

“OWB” is an Outside the WaistBand holster. The pancake style holds the gun close to the body and distributes the weight of the firearm over a larger portion of the belt, thus making it a bit more comfortable and stable for all day carries. Pancake styles are also concealable when necessary. Taco style holsters offer the ability to do paddle mounts, blade-tech clips and other wearable options.

“IWB”, Inside the WaistBand are worn inside the pants and attach to the belt with molded clips. These are the most Concealable type of holster, but they do require pants that measure about an inch larger than your normal waistband.

What are they made of?

Our Holsters are made of a thermoplastic acrylic, polyvinyl-chloride material, trade name, Kydex. You will find that Hell-Bent holsters are more rigid and will deform less when loaded vs. other “plastic” holsters. They offer a high degree of toughness and resilience. Since we use the highest quality materials available, our holsters are built for hard use and stand up to the punishments of both competition shooters and everyday users.

Will Kydex scratch my gun?

All holsters, no matter what they are made of, who makes them or what they cost – will wear any gun finish. But, a Kydex holster is the least likely of all materials to show wear on your firearms. Generally, the wear is only noticeable where there’s bare metal on contact points; the rest of the gun will still look like new!

What is a sweatshield?

We offer a sweatshield option on all of our holsters. Choose the one that is best for the way you carry.

  • A full sweatshield completely covers the firearm next to your body. It protects the controls, keeps moisture away from the gun, prevents loose clothing from interfering with your draw and acts as a funnel for reholstering.
  • The medium sweatshield does not cover the controls, but does keep clothing from interfering with your draw and acts as a funnel for reholstering.
  • A low sweatshield allows a proper firing grip without any thumb interference.
  • You can also choose the None option when creating your holster.

Which handedness do I choose? Right or left?

Handedness refers to which hand you shoot with. We assume if You’re right handed, your holster will be located on your right hip and mag pouches will be on your left (with bullets facing upward.) The same goes for left-handedness – holster on your left hip, mag on the right.

Do you make shoulder, ankle or leg holsters?

No, currently we make IWB, OWB, Car Mounts, Drop Legs and Paddle Mounts.

Can I adjust the retention on my gun?

The way our holsters get their retention is in the molding process. The area inside and around the trigger guard is where most of the retention is focused. While we take every measure to ensure the proper fitment of the holster to firearm, it may be necessary to adjust the retention to properly fit with how you are carrying the gun.

When inserting the firearm, there shouldn’t be any major resistance until the trigger guard starts entering the holster. There will be some friction between the slide and holster, which is expected, but it should not be so much as to make holstering difficult. Your gun should fully seat into the holster with a slight “snap” or “pop” of the holster closing around the trigger guard. At this point, give the gun a slight tug on the grip to ensure it will not come out of the holster with little effort. If you find yourself playing tug of war with the holster and the gun, it is probably too tight. You can start by turning the screws ¼ turn at a time until your perfect retention is found. If you are having difficulties, you should send it back in for adjustments before carrying the firearm in the holster.

How do I clean my holster?

A simple wash with soap and water will clean the crud out of your holster. We recommend cleaning it after every heavy usage to remove powder dust. Do not put your holster in the dishwasher, the microwave, the washing machine or in a dryer! The heats are too high and may warp your holster. Sounds silly – but there is a reason we brought it up!
